Can I safely order from your site?
Orders are routed through the PayPal system. All transactions are safely encrypted between your computer and PayPal, and we (Crown Skis) do not get access to your credit card information. Please contact us to discuss any concerns.
Do I need a Paypal account to order?
You do not need a Paypal account to order skis from us although the order process will be faster if you have one. Paypal accepts all major credit cards.
What is your deposit structure?
Upon confirming your order, your credit card will be charged a deposit of C$400. When your skis are ready to ship we will email you a Paypal invoice for the remaining amount. We will then send your skis your way as soon as your payment is cleared.
When will my skis be ready?
If we have a pair already built matching the combination of model, length, graphics and stiffness that you ordered then we will ship within 2 business days of receiving your order. Otherwise, your made-to-order pair will be ready within 15 business days of receiving your order. If for any reason we were to anticipate a slower turn-around time (heavy demand, supplier issues, etc) we would contact you immediately to ensure that the longer time is acceptable for you.
Note: this doesn't apply to fall orders... They will be shipped in November, just in time for the ski season!
Where do you ship? How much do you charge for shipping?

Are Crown skis available in shops?
Crown skis are only available for purchase on our website at this stage.
What is your warranty policy?
All our skis are covered by a one-year warranty against manufacturer's defects. Please see this pdf document for the full warranty wording.
Should I choose the "stiffer" flex option?
Please have a look here for guidelines. If you're still not sure, just drop us a line and we'll help you out.
Where are Crown skis made?
Our skis are handbuilt in our workshop right here in Vancouver, BC, Canada. All the shop equipment was built locally using local material suppliers whenever possible. We believe in minimizing unnecessary transportation of the raw materials that make up our skis, and we practice the "100-mile diet" of ski building whenever possible. No "Made in China" components in our skis!
How do you advise I mount my skis?
All our skis are shipped with detailed mounting instructions and mounting point guidelines for different skiing styles. Please contact us if you'd like more details prior to purchasing a pair.
Do you sell bindings? Do you recommend a particular brand of bindings?
We do not sell bindings at this point. Bindings are truly a matter of personal preferences and therefore we do not think that it would be fair to recommend a brand over another. Go with what's worked best for you in the past, rely on feedback from friends, ask a professional at your local ski shop, etc...
We do however believe that our skis will perform extremely well regardless of your particular setup: alpine, touring or telemark.
How are your skis tuned?
All our skis are tuned by our partner Vancouver Ski and Board Services prior to getting shipped to you.
I heard that the Beta skis had some topsheet issues. What have you done to address those?
The first batch of skis built under the Beta program used a transparent topsheet painted on its underside. Unfortunately the paint-to-fiberglass bond proved to be too weak for the abuse that skis are routinely subjected to (temperature variations, repeated flexing, impacts, etc), and many of our Beta testers reported topsheet delamination issues.
All 2009/10 Kensho and Satori topsheets are sublimation-printed by a partner with over 20 years of experience in the ski/snowboard industry, who is also a current supplier to a number of our successful competitors. This new relationship gives us full confidence in the topsheet bond of our skis.
